Wenham Country Club

Wenham Country Club traces its origins to the late 1890s, when a group of local teenagers who had caddied at nearby Myopia in Hamilton set out to build a course of their own. Work on a handful of holes began in 1897 on a tract known as Tarr's pasture, and the club officially opened in the summer of 1899.

In its earliest years, play was limited to residents of Wenham, and a modest shelter was soon added for changing shoes and storing clubs. On the club's 25th anniversary, additional land was leased and the course was extended to a full 18 holes. Membership was then opened to those from outside the town, and the club, with roughly 50 members, held affiliations with both the national and Massachusetts golf associations.
