Sandy Burr Country Club
About Sandy Burr Country Club
Sandy Burr Country Club traces its origins to the summer of 1921, when "Gus" White conceived the idea of organizing a club. After a four-month search, the current property was selected — 182 acres assembled from two former farms, the 59-acre Dwight farm and the 123-acre Beebe farm, which included three homesteads and additional farm buildings.
A temporary nine-hole layout was staked out in the spring of 1922 by Eben Adams, then the greenkeeper and formerly of Worcester Country Club. Work was already under way on the permanent 18-hole course, designed by architect Donald Ross.
More than a century on, the Wayland club continues to reflect that early history and tradition.
