Southers Marsh Golf Club
About Southers Marsh Golf Club
Southers Marsh Golf Club opened in July 2001 on the upland surrounding the Stearns family's century-old working cranberry bogs in Plymouth. The project grew out of a decision to keep the land open and in family hands after the downturn in the cranberry industry during the late 1990s.
The family's earlier experiment, a homemade five-hole layout built in 1995 for friends and relatives, encouraged the larger undertaking. Dahn Tibbett was brought in to shape the course, while the owners carried out the rough earth moving and irrigation work themselves. A number of the original construction crew have stayed on to maintain the property.
