Miacomet Golf Course

Miacomet Golf Course sits on Nantucket's southern shore, on land once inhabited by the Wampanoag, who knew the area as "Miacomet," meaning "The Meeting Place." In 1956 Ralph P. Marble purchased 400 acres here intending to raise dairy cows, but saw the potential of the landscape and began building a golf course four years later.

The course opened in 1963 as a year-round facility for islanders and visitors, taking in golfers from the recently closed Tupancy Links. In the mid-1980s Marble sold the land to the Nantucket Island Land Bank to preserve it, and the course has served the Nantucket community ever since.
