Cyprian Keyes Golf Club
About Cyprian Keyes Golf Club
Cyprian Keyes Golf Club in Boylston opened in 1997, but the land it occupies carries a much longer history. Records trace the property to 1718, when early settler Thomas Keyes purchased several lots in what was then the north precinct of Shrewsbury. In 1734 his son Cyprian built a home on the site known as Spring Garden. Cyprian Keyes was among the first settlers of what became Boylston, served as a deacon of the Congregational Church, and was a committed patriot.

After his death in 1802 at the age of 95, the land passed through numerous owners before being acquired by industrialist George Sumner Barton and his wife, Elizabeth Trumbull Lincoln, who renamed it Barlin Acres by combining their surnames. The Bartons expanded the original Keyes house, adding a music room in 1939 that had been built in 19th-century England, then disassembled and reassembled as part of the Barlin Acres mansion.
