The Pines at North Park

The Pines at North Park traces its origins to the mid-1950s, when founder Art Hannaman Jr. began clearing land in Denham Springs. The site was palmetto swamp at the time, and Hannaman and his partners dug a pond for drainage, using the excavated dirt to shape the golf course. The result was Denham Springs Country Club.

By the 1960s the club had grown to roughly 250 members, with a waiting list to join. The surrounding ward was dry in those years, though Hannaman quietly kept beer flowing for members with the help of his connections to the local sheriff. Among the course's longest-running traditions was the Catfish Tournament, held for more than 37 years.
