Paintsville Golf Course
About Paintsville Golf Course
Established in 1929, Paintsville Golf Course was among the first 18-hole layouts in Eastern Kentucky. Its design came from Dr. Paul B. Hall, a member of the Kentucky Golf Association Hall of Fame, together with brothers C. Mitchel Hall and Dr. Lon C. Hall.
The front nine rolls across undulating fairways with several changes in elevation, while the back nine introduces two lakes that bring water into play. The Big Sandy River also figures into the round: tee shots on the 10th and 17th must carry it, and golfers cross the course's well-known swinging bridge along the way. The combination of terrain and hazards gives both newcomers and experienced players something to work with.
