About Harmony Landing Campus, Big Spring Country Club
Big Spring Country Club traces its origins to the spring of 1926, when a group of Louisville-area golfers formed the Big Spring Land Company to secure land in Jefferson County close enough to the city to be convenient for a golf club. The 163-acre property had been the R.S. Veech Beargrass Stock Farm, bordering the Middle Fork of Beargrass Creek and home to one of the county's notable springs. The namesake "Big Spring" still runs near the 13th hole.

The original layout came from Scottish architect Tom Winton, who later reworked the Blue Course at Congressional Country Club. His design aimed to test strong players without overwhelming casual ones, relying on subtly contoured greens that permit a broad range of pin positions, from accessible to severe. George Davies served as construction engineer and as property superintendent and club manager from 1926 to 1931.
William Diddle remodeled the course in 1951 ahead of the 1952 PGA Championship. After Interstate 64 took in part of the property in 1964, Larry Packard redesigned several holes on the north side, and Rees Jones completed a full renovation in 2004.
