About Danville Country Club
Danville Country Club's layout came together in two distinct phases. The original nine holes were laid out in 1924 by Louis Chiappetta, a golf professional of that era who had set amateur and professional scoring records with a 67 at Greenwich Country Club in 1922 and who competed against figures such as Gene Sarazen, Bobby Jones and Walter Hagen. During construction he was something of a local celebrity in Danville, reportedly attracting onlookers whenever he went into town.

The second nine was completed in 1972 by architect Benjamin J. Wihry, a member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects who designed six other courses across Kentucky, Tennessee and Indiana during the 1960s and 1970s, several of which have hosted professional and state amateur competitions.
The club has held men's, women's and junior State Amateur events, and is known locally as the host of the J.E. Butler and Tee Cup tournaments.
