Fort Hays Municipal Golf Course
About Fort Hays Municipal Golf Course
Fort Hays Municipal Golf Course is a public layout on the southwest edge of Hays, just off the Highway 183 bypass. It began in 1929 as a nine-hole course with sand greens and has since grown into an eighteen-hole course with irrigated bluegrass fairways and bentgrass greens.
Set on ground that was once part of the historic Fort Hays military outpost, the course blends links-style and parkland characteristics. Prevailing southwest winds, deceptive elevation changes and quick greens all come into play, and water hazards come into the picture on nine of the eighteen holes.
