About Kampen-Cosler Course

The Kampen-Cosler Course at Purdue University began in 1994, when architect Pete Dye surveyed what was then the North Course to consider changes required by a planned road project. The study grew into a full redesign, with Dye aiming to build a layout that would challenge collegiate players while serving as a working classroom for Purdue students.

Construction began in the fall of 1996, with Dye, superintendent Jim Scott and 32 Purdue students collaborating on the design. Departments including Forestry, Entomology, Agronomy and water quality testing took part, and the finished course incorporates a water reclamation system that recycles all of the water used on the property.

The result is a links-style layout featuring waste bunkers, native grasslands, man-made wetlands and large greens. It stretches past 7,400 yards from the championship tees and just over 5,000 yards from the forward tees, so choosing an appropriate set of tees matters.
