Woodbury Golf Course in Plymouth, Indiana, sits on land with a long family history. Charles Woodbury traveled to California during the gold rush and spent several years mining before selling his interest in the claim to his partner and returning to Plymouth, where he married Matilda Vinall in 1868.
Woodbury bought the John J. Vinall farm and established a homestead off Michigan Road, on the ground the golf course occupies today. After his death the property passed to his daughter, Margaret (Maggie) Woodbury, who lived on the farm with her brother John for the rest of their lives.
