About Garrett Country Club
Garrett Country Club traces its origins to 1917, when a group of local businessmen and golf enthusiasts came together to establish the club. Chicago architect Tom Bendelow laid out the original course; his work from that era also includes Medinah Country Club in Illinois.
The club operated privately under its local shareholders from 1917 until 1940, when it was bought by the Garrett Elks, who ran it for two years. Harvey Schmidt acquired the course in 1943 and managed it for 15 years before selling to Dale Zolman in 1959. Richard and Sandra Sholl took ownership of the nine-hole layout in 1975 and held it for 29 years.

Expansion began in the spring of 1995 with the addition of 84 acres, and the enlarged 18-hole, par-72 course opened to public play in 1996.
