About Lucas Oil Golf Course & Restaurant
Lucas Oil Golf Course sits in the rolling hills and ridges of southern Indiana, about 38 miles west of Louisville, Kentucky. The 18-hole layout occupies the site of the old town of English, a community of roughly 1,000 residents that supported restaurants and hotels in the 1930s. Repeated flooding, including a June 1990 flood that left the downtown under nearly ten feet of water, led the town to seek federal assistance and relocate about a mile east along Highway 64 to higher ground over the following five years.

The abandoned townsite, with its fertile valley, surrounding ridge tops and surviving streets and bridges, became the setting for the course. Architect Dr. Michael Hurdzan routed the holes to make use of the dramatic elevation changes and the remnant features in and around old English. A restaurant is part of the property.
