About Turnberry Golf Club
Turnberry Golf Club in the Village of Lakewood is set on 166 acres of rolling ground northwest of Chicago. The course was designed in 1970 by architect E. Lawrence Packard and opened in 1972.
The par-72 layout measures about 6,900 yards and features mature trees, elevation changes, water in play on 10 holes and numerous bunkers. Fairways are generous and green-front bunkers and water are largely absent, but the contoured putting surfaces call for careful shot-making to avoid fast downhill putts and chips. Notable tests include the 220-yard 3rd and the 544-yard 17th, while the elevated 11th tee opens up a wide panoramic view. Course ratings are 73.1/137 from the Championship tees, 71.4/133 from the Regular tees and 74.0/132 from the Forward tees.

Turnberry has hosted USGA, CDGA and PGA events, among them the Illinois State Amateur Championship, the Illinois Open, Mid-Amateur Qualifying and U.S. Open Qualifying. Practice facilities include a driving range with a 23,000-square-foot bluegrass hitting area, a fairway practice bunker and a 10,000-square-foot putting green, plus a pro shop.
