Spring Creek Golf Course
About Spring Creek Golf Course
Spring Creek Golf Course sits on land that was once the Potthoff family farm, just off Interstate 80. When the zinc works in LaSalle and Peru began closing in the early 1960s, John Potthoff looked for a new livelihood and found it on his own property.
The idea came from conversations with Charles Ind, who owned a concrete company in Rockford, Illinois. After looking over the acreage, Ind suggested that the farm's rolling, hilly ground, mature trees and established vegetation would suit a golf course well.
Potthoff went on to build the course with help from his brothers Leo, Clem and Ted, along with his brother-in-law Harold Dean.
