Quincy Country Club

Quincy Country Club is a private club in Quincy, Illinois, with golf on the property dating to 1898. The club expanded in April 1918 with the purchase of 75 additional acres of the Emery property at 24th and State streets, running along State Street to 30th Street.

The course took close to its current form in a 1927–1928 redesign by a Chicago architect named Macomber, whose plans were carried out by Clarkson and drew on elements of an earlier design prepared in 1925 but never fully built. The 12th fairway and green are the only ones in continuous use since 1898; they occupy the eastern two-thirds of an original par five called the "Punch Bowl," named for the shape of its green. Clarkson introduced bent grass greens beginning in 1924, starting with the 17th and later extending throughout the course, and the fairways were converted to bent grass in the late 1980s.
