About Weibring Golf Club
Weibring Golf Club at Illinois State University was laid out in 1962 by architect Robert Bruce Harris, originally as a regulation nine around the perimeter of the property with a shorter executive nine in the middle. It opened in May 1964, with university president Robert Bone striking the first shot.
The course today plays to 6,915 yards at par 71 and handles roughly 30,000 rounds a year, along with more than 100 tournaments and outings. These include Illinois State intercollegiate competition, University High School home events, the State Farm Youth Classic, the Illinois High School Association boys state final, and charity and scholarship fundraisers.

The layout closed for the 2000 season for a renovation directed by Illinois State alumnus and tour player D.A. Weibring and his firm Golf Resources, Inc. Work covered a new irrigation system, rebuilt greens including two practice greens, bentgrass tees and fairways, and reconstructed bunkers with new drainage, erosion control and sand. Play resumed in July 2001.
