Royal Melbourne Country Club
About Royal Melbourne Country Club
Royal Melbourne Country Club is a private club in Long Grove, Illinois, built around an 18-hole championship course routed through wetlands, ponds, prairie and stands of trees. The natural setting is home to deer, swans, hawks and other local wildlife, giving rounds a parkland character alongside the golf.
The design draws on Alister Mackenzie's original layout at Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Australia and reflects Greg Norman's view that a private course should test members while remaining fair. Four sets of tees, combined with the club's play policy, keep the course manageable for beginners and frequent players alike.
