Lakeview sits in the far southwest corner of Iroquois County, about two miles west of Loda, Illinois. The surrounding Bayles Lake and Lake Iroquois communities are wooded with oak, walnut and shagbark trees, and the East Central Illinois landscape supports plenty of wildlife, including eagles, herons, fox and deer.
The course opened in 1957 to a design by Charles Maddox. It plays as nine holes, with separate tee boxes on each hole allowing an 18-hole round, and measures 3,180 yards from the back tees with a USGA rating of 35.2 and a slope of 115. Three sets of tees accommodate a range of skill levels.
Fairways and greens are kept in good condition, and the layout offers a mix of challenge and playability for golfers of varying abilities.
