About The Beverly Country Club
Beverly Country Club sits roughly ten miles from the Chicago Loop, offering a private, golf-centered club setting close to downtown.
The original course was laid out by George O'Neil, the club's first golf professional, reportedly with help from golf course architect Tom Bendelow, and the layout was regarded as a championship test from its earliest days. Club officials later commissioned Donald Ross to draw up a master plan for renovating the course and returning it to championship standards.

Ross's routing is the defining feature: no two consecutive holes run in the same direction, even though the course fits within a rectangle bounded by three arterial streets and a rail line. He also worked with the property's dominant geological feature, a ridge running from behind the fifth green eastward above the second fairway. The ridge once formed part of the southern shore of prehistoric Lake Chicago, which left sand dunes across what is now the back nine.
