Bent Tree Golf Course in Charleston, Illinois is an 18-hole layout playing 6,240 yards from the back tees to a par of 70. Like a number of courses in the region, it started as nine holes built in the mid-1980s, with a second nine added in the early 1990s.
The two halves look and play quite differently. The front nine is the longer side and plays fairly open, while the back nine is largely lined with trees and brings water into play in some form on every hole. The closing hole is the most memorable test: a 115-yard carry over water to an island green that has claimed a great many golf balls.
