About Union County Country Club
Union County Country Club offers an 18-hole layout in Anna, Illinois, playing 6,533 yards from the back tees to a par of 71. The course carries a rating of 71.1 and a slope of 125. It was designed by Gary Kern, ASGCA, and opened in 1954.
The club began as a nine-hole course with sand "greens," a setup in which players hit toward the target, measured the distance to the hole, and then moved the ball to a packed strip the same distance away to putt. Members eventually concluded that grass greens were essential to the club's future, and money raised through raffles and other fundraising efforts paid for the conversion.

In 1960 the club started the Bunny Bread Tournament, now known as the Sheeny Elkins Classic, which opened the Southern Illinois golf calendar as the season's first event.
