About Clear Lake Country Club
Clear Lake Country Club sits in the canyon country near Buhl, in southern Idaho, and has a long history of golf and event hosting in the region.
The course took its present shape in the early 1940s, when a new layout replaced the older routing. Jack Tingey, then a member of the board of directors, owned the nearby fish hatchery on the ground where a trout research facility now stands, and frequently put his own crew to work on the project. Ted Eastman, who worked for Tingey at the time, was part of that effort. The grass greens were playable by July 1944.

According to Eastman, the 18th tee was once considerably larger — big enough for a three-gang mower to circle it completely — before the river began eroding the bank. Steel pilings for a retention wall were obtained after World War II, during Idaho Power's construction of new plants at Hagerman, and the wall was built in January 1957. Squirrels were brought in from Boise the following month.
