About River Bend Golf Course
River Bend Golf Course opened in 1971 to serve Story City and the surrounding communities. Its origins trace back to a public meeting called by Robert Cole in 1958 to gauge local support for building a course in or near the town, a gathering at which Duane Orcutt spoke in favor of moving ahead.
The layout is approachable for most players while still presenting a test for stronger golfers, with trees and water coming into play on nearly every hole. A clubhouse and bar built in 2010 provides a comfortable spot to gather after a round.
