Spirit Hollow Golf Course
About Spirit Hollow Golf Course
Spirit Hollow occupies a 400-acre former cattle ranch outside Burlington, Iowa, a property that local golfer Randy Winegard had known since childhood and purchased in 1991 with the intention of turning it into a golf course. Its rolling hills and natural streams shaped the eventual routing.
Winegard had walked the ground for years and arrived with his own ideas for the layout, but after interviewing three architects he selected Rick Jacobson — chosen, by Winegard's own account, because he was the only candidate willing to say the owner's design was poor.
