North Kossuth Golf Club

North Kossuth Golf Club sits on the edge of Bancroft, in Kossuth County, Iowa, and its story stretches back more than a century. The first course here was a community venture of the 1920s, supported by ten-dollar memberships and local enthusiasm. It survived roughly a decade before the ground returned to its own devices.

The club playing today is the second attempt, and it was just as much a town-wide effort. A federal loan, a stock sale among neighbors, a farm on the outskirts of town, and a construction crew from Sioux City experienced in shaping prairie land into fairways brought the project together. The course opened for play in June 1964 and has been part of local life ever since.
