About Wailua Golf Course
Wailua Golf Course began in the 1930s as a nine-hole layout on Kauai's eastern shore, with a second nine added in 1961. The course was designed by Toyo Shirai.
The 18-hole municipal course has hosted three USGA Amateur Public Links Championships. On-site facilities include a clubhouse, a golf shop and a restaurant, and motorized carts are available.
Morning twilight play begins at the same time as the first tee of the day, starting from the 10th tee for nine holes only, with a target pace of an hour and a half; beginners and slower groups are asked to play after midday. Weekday morning twilight play is occasionally suspended for course maintenance.
