Bacon Park Golf Course
About Bacon Park Golf Course
Bacon Park Golf Course is owned by the City of Savannah and traces its origins to a 1926 Donald Ross design. Ross originally envisioned 72 holes; two courses were built, one of which closed around 1940, and an additional nine holes were added in 1985 to create a 27-hole facility. In 2014 the management contract passed to OC Welch Golf Properties, which launched a major renovation.
Architect Richard Mandell of Pinehurst, North Carolina, was engaged to restore the original Ross routing, working from Ross's field sketches, aerial photographs from 1951 and 1971, and recollections of the older layout.

Every hole carries a name describing its character, from Getaway, Hogback and Blind Tom on the first nine to The Narrows, Sore Thumb and Home on the second. Sloping greens, rolling fairways, strategic bunkering and large oaks defend a layout that measures just over 6,600 yards from the back tees.
