Dawson Country Club
About Dawson Country Club
Dawson Country Club traces its origins to 1919, when a stock company was formed in the south Georgia town. The Dawson Golf Club followed in 1931, with a first course built east of the city limits that used sand greens. A new site inside the city limits was purchased in 1935, and work began on grass greens. The Municipal Club of Dawson was inaugurated in 1936, giving the town its first permanent recreational facility along with a nine-hole golf course at the club's present location.

The club remains member-owned, with the land having passed from its original founders to the membership, giving members direct control of the facility. Many have contributed equipment, supplies, funding and time over the years. The club is known for a small-scale, family-oriented setting, with generations of some families among the membership, and it hosts golf tournaments, family gatherings and other social events.
