Country Land Golf Course began in 1991, when four friends set out to build an accessible, unpretentious course for the working people of North Georgia. Designed by Mike Young, it sits on the second highest point in Forsyth County and plays to a par of 70.
The layout is a demanding one, with numerous hills and inclines, narrow fairways, and small, sloping Bermuda grass greens. From its elevated setting, the course looks out over the surrounding Appalachian Mountains and the valleys around Lake Lanier.
Country Land's history in Forsyth County extends to its sister property, Lanierland Music Park, which opened in 1970 and hosted country music performers including George Jones, Loretta Lynn, The Judds, Waylon Jennings, Hank Williams Jr., Dolly Parton, Merle Haggard and Charley Pride at its open-air pavilion.
