Augusta Municipal Golf Course
About Augusta Municipal Golf Course
Augusta Municipal Golf Course is a city-owned facility in Augusta, Georgia, operated under a 50-year lease with the City of Augusta. A renovation project brought in architects Tom Fazio, Beau Welling and Tiger Woods: Fazio led the design of the 18-hole course, Woods led the design of the short course, and Welling contributed to both while directing the layout of the practice facilities.
The property, expanded through the purchase of neighboring parcels, is bounded by Damascus and Wrightsboro Roads on one side and the runways of Daniel Field on the other. Those unusual boundaries give the site an outline often compared to an elephant, with the short course known as The Loop sitting in the ear and the 5th and 6th holes forming the trunk.
