About Augusta Country Club

Augusta Country Club is the oldest golf club in Augusta, Georgia, with documented origins dating to 1899 in Richmond County Courthouse records from March and April of that year, though evidence suggests it was already operating around 1897–1898. That places it among the earliest golf clubs established in the United States.

The club was originally called the Bon Air Golf Club, reflecting the founders' ties to the Bon Air Hotel. It was renamed The Country Club of Augusta in 1900, then The Augusta Country Club in 1921, and legally incorporated under the name The Augusta Country Club, Incorporated in 1942.

Golf was introduced to Augusta and the Village of Summerville by four local men: Dr. William Henry Harison, Jr., Morley Harison, Henry H. Cumming and Louis P. Berckmans. The club is private.
