About Rivermont Golf Club
Rivermont Golf Club opened in 1973 with a Joe Lee design laid out through an Alpharetta neighborhood, offering a playable test for golfers of varying skill while still presenting challenges to low handicaps. Its best-known hole is the 17th, which drops roughly 110 feet from tee to green.
Lee's original routing had the nines in the opposite order, beginning on what is now the 10th hole. Club founder and first Director of Golf David Cupit reversed them after concluding that finishing some 500 yards from the clubhouse made little sense. Further changes followed, most notably a 2006 redesign by architect Michael Riley with Chris Cupit, which reworked the course along less conventional lines.

The club has hosted a range of competitions over the decades, including the Super Sports Classic, the Georgia State Women's Invitational, qualifiers for the Georgia State Golf Association, Southern Golf Association and United States Golf Association, and the 2023 Georgia State Amateur, played during its 50th anniversary year.
