About Banyan Golf Club
Banyan Golf Club traces its origins to the early 1970s, when a group of local golfers learned that the course they played regularly was slated to be replaced by a condominium development. Concerned that continued construction in the area would leave them without a place to play, they began searching for land on which to buy or lease a site for a club of their own.
The informal group grew into a committee of fifteen, who drafted a prospectus outlining their aim of building a modest private club with an unhurried atmosphere. A meeting was convened to present plans for a golf club budgeted at $1.5 million, and enrollment moved quickly, producing a lengthy waiting list within two months and clearing the way for construction to begin.
