About Sara Bay Country Club

Sara Bay Country Club dates to 1926, when it opened as Whitfield Estates Country Club and served as a hub of Sarasota social life, drawing its membership from the city's prominent families. The private club's course was laid out by Donald Ross.

In 2018, a restoration led by Spence Golf, Inc. drew on the original blueprints to return the bunkers and greens to Ross's intended design, preserving the layout's classic character.

The club has long been a venue for competitive golf, hosting Florida Golf Association events and serving as a US Open qualifying site. It also held an LPGA Symetra Tour event from 2012 through 2017.
