Oceanside Country Club

Oceanside Country Club traces its roots to an early golf course on the mainland, where the original clubhouse stood near the freight depot. Historical accounts differ on its size, with some references describing seven holes and most citing nine.

The course was created as an additional amenity for winter guests at the Ormond Hotel, a large winter resort that eventually grew to 400 rooms and was said to be the largest wooden structure in the world, with some eleven miles of hallways, porches and breezeways. The hotel was conceived by entrepreneurs J. D. Price and John Anderson, who spent much of the rest of their lives developing and managing the property, including the land on which the Oceanside Country Club golf course stands today.
