About Miami Shores Country Club
Miami Shores Country Club sits in the Village of Miami Shores in Miami-Dade County. Clearing of 130 acres of woodland began in early 1939, with partial construction funding provided through the federal Works Progress Administration. Architects Robert F. "Red" Lawrence and Louis Wilson, both former associates of the firm Toomey & Flynn, planned the layout and oversaw its building, and the course opened in the fall of 1939. Two features bisect the property: the Biscayne Canal Number C-8 and the Florida East Coast railroad, the latter now playing as out of bounds.

A major renovation in 2011 brought Mini Verde Bermuda greens, along with tee and fairway work, bunker restoration, reshaping of the greens and general conditioning upgrades.
The 18-hole course plays to a par of 71, with four sets of tees stretching from about 5,000 to 6,700 yards. It has hosted the Florida State Open, and past players have included Bob Hope, Joe DiMaggio, Arnold Palmer, Sam Snead and Lee Trevino. Downtown Miami, Miami Beach and Miami International Airport are all within a short drive.
