About Panama Country Club
Panama Country Club's golf course dates to 1927, when it was laid out by W.C. Sherman and architect Donald J. Ross. Measuring just under 6,700 yards from the championship tees, the layout features subtle contouring and fairways of narrow to medium width, presenting a test for a range of handicaps. The greens are new but sized and shaped in keeping with the period in which the course was originally designed. Multiple tee sets are offered, with the forward markers playing about 5,400 yards.

With no houses built along the interior of the property, the course doubles as protected habitat for Northwest Florida wildlife, and golfers may spot eagles, egrets, herons, turtles and the fox squirrel that appears in the club's logo.
Each year the club stages the Sherman Invitational Golf Tournament, an amateur event that draws regional players. First played in 1927, the year the course opened, it is the longest continuously held amateur tournament in the Southeast.
