About Southern Dunes Golf and Country Club
Southern Dunes traces its origins to 1989, when a severe freeze destroyed a 350-acre citrus grove on the property. Rather than replant, the owners turned the land toward golf, and the course was originally known as "Lost Grove."
The land was held by brothers Terry and Roger Donley along with three partners known from Las Vegas: Dewey Tomko, Doyle Brunson and Jack Binion. That connection drew a steady stream of celebrities, sports figures and memorable personalities to the course over the years. The Las Vegas partners no longer hold an interest in Southern Dunes, though the Donley family continues to credit their part in the club's history.
