About IMG Academy Golf Club
IMG Academy Golf Club in Bradenton features an 18-hole championship layout that tests low-handicap players while remaining manageable for higher handicaps. Slender pines, mature oaks, native foliage and several lakes frame the holes, setting the course within Florida's natural habitat.
The course opened in 1972 and was chartered in 1980 as a private country club, originally playing to 6,673 yards at par 72. A renovation by golf architect Gene Bates of Palm Beach Gardens brought the course back into play in 2003, lengthening it to 6,855 yards from the back tees and reversing the routing of the 10th and 18th holes, which created an island green at No. 10.

The project also introduced hybrid turfgrasses suited to southern conditions, with TifEagle on the greens and TifSport on fairways, tees and rough, allowing tighter cutting heights. Irrigation and drainage were replaced, bunkers rebuilt, landscaping added and the practice facility enlarged.
