Washington Golf Course
About Washington Golf Course
Washington Golf Course is part of The Washington Club, a member organization in Washington, Connecticut, whose history reaches back to 1903, when it was formed as an unincorporated association. It was incorporated under Connecticut law in 1907, a step taken so the club could hold title to the newly built structure now known as Club Hall.
Tennis came next, with the club's first courts laid out on ground that later became the Gunnery upper courts. Golf joined the organization in 1914, when the Washington Golf Club merged with The Washington Club. In 1922 the club added a beach on Lake Waramaug, known today as Holt Beach, giving members a lakeside setting alongside the golf and tennis facilities.
