About Sterling Farms Golf Course
Sterling Farms Golf Course is a municipal course owned by the City of Stamford, Connecticut, and its origins trace back to a citizens' campaign in the mid-1960s.
In the fall of 1965, the officers and Board of Governors of the Hubbard Heights Golf Club committed the club to the goal of bringing a second municipal golf course to Stamford. Frank Daley, long associated with public golf in the city, was named chairman of the committee formed to pursue the project. Serving alongside him were Joe Lasko, Adele Domagala, John Cavanaugh, Michael Holahan, John Zeiss, Arthur Ransohoff, Frank McNamara, Stephen Hagedus and William Telesco.

The committee worked from November 1965 until June 1966 before meeting with the mayor, by which point the paperwork establishing the project's priority for available state and federal funding had been prepared and cleared. Those funds covered 75 percent of the cost, with the city responsible for the remaining quarter.
