Club River Oaks
About Club River Oaks
Club River Oaks sits along the Housatonic River in Sherman, Connecticut, a short drive from Danbury, New Milford and Brookfield. The course opened in 2003, and its original routing follows the river closely enough that water comes into view on nearly every hole.
Long regarded as a demanding layout, the course has been reshaped and rebuilt in recent years. The work added 55 new bunkers, two redesigned greens, a new par five at the 2nd and additional length on the par-five 16th, along with clearing that opened sightlines and brought more light to the fairways. The changes were intended to make the course more playable for recreational golfers while preserving the challenge it presents to low handicaps.

The practice area has also been upgraded with new synthetic hitting mats, a practice bunker and a short-game area, with further turf planned for 2027. Lessons and clinics are offered by the golf staff under Head Golf Professional Ian Wivestad.
