Portland Golf Course West
About Portland Golf Course West
Portland West Golf Course was built in the early 1980s and opened in 1985, from a design by Al Zikorus, who also consulted during construction. The layout is an 18-hole par 60 made up of twelve par 3s and six par 4s, with elevated tees and greens and a range of par-3 yardages adding variety. All of the water on the property is man-made: three ponds and a series of creeks bring hazards into play on at least half the holes.

No homes border the course, which contributes to its quiet character, and the grounds serve as a refuge for waterfowl, deer, fox and other woodland wildlife.
The course is owned by brothers Shawn and Kevin Kelley, both graduates of the University of Massachusetts Amherst, who also act as hands-on superintendents and handle day-to-day maintenance. The pro shop is managed by Gerry D'Amora, a Class A PGA professional who has been at the course since it opened.
