About Southington Country Club
Southington Country Club traces its origins to July 1922, when a group of local golf enthusiasts — among them Samuel J. Cook, John Higgins, Frank D. Taylor, Jr., William M. Degnan and Allen P. Parker — persuaded Edwin S. Todd to chair a committee charged with finding a way to bring a golf course to the town. The Parsons Golf Corporation was incorporated on August 4, 1922, with Todd as president, Luke E. Fichthorn as vice-president, Henry B. Armstrong as secretary and Southington Bank & Trust Company as treasurer.

The company took a long-term lease from Miss Frederica Parsons on a ninety-acre parcel in the town's South End known as the Webster farm, and work on a nine-hole course began immediately. Temporary greens were readied in time for a members' tournament on Labor Day 1922. That October a contract was awarded for a clubhouse built of rubble stone gathered from the farm's old walls, finished in 1923. The grounds sit beneath the Hanging Hills, which rise to the east.
