About Fox Hopyard Golf Club

Fox Hopyard Golf Club opened for play in 2001, the third golf project of Massachusetts businessman Bill Sandri, who had earlier revived the stalled Crumpin-Fox Club in Bernardston, Massachusetts — completed by the Robert Trent Jones Sr. team and opened in full in 1990 — and later developed Fox Hollow in Trinity, Florida.

The Connecticut course sits on a 530-acre parcel bordering Devil's Hopyard State Park in East Haddam. The 18-hole layout was designed by Roger Rulewich, a protégé of Robert Trent Jones Sr., and routed to follow the varied terrain of the site. Several club buildings, designed by architect John Matthews, accompany the course, along with 53 house lots.

Ownership remains with the Sandri family; Tim Van Epps succeeded Bill Sandri as Chairman of the Board of the Sandri Companies, which includes the golf courses, shortly after Fox Hopyard opened.
