Sky Ranch Golf Course

Sky Ranch Golf Course in Sterling, Colorado, is a tree-lined layout where accuracy matters more than distance. The opening stretch includes a sharp dogleg left that rewards a controlled tee shot to the corner of the bend, leaving a mid-iron approach; attempting to cut the corner over the trees brings more timber into play than it first appears.

Water is a recurring theme, with a ditch affecting seven holes on the course. On one of them the ditch crosses the fairway, giving players the choice between laying up and carrying it from the tee, while a large sand bunker guards the right side of the green. Elsewhere, a straight hole with a narrow fairway and a blind landing area plays to the smallest green on the course, where shots that miss the surface feed away into a surrounding hollow and leave a tricky recovery.
