Lincoln Park Golf Course
About Lincoln Park Golf Course
Lincoln Park Golf Course occupies the northwestern corner of the San Francisco peninsula, on high ground above Lands End that was once the site of Golden Gate Cemetery. After the city relocated its burial grounds to Colma, the land became public parkland and was dedicated to President Abraham Lincoln in 1909.
Golf arrived before the park itself: local players laid out three holes on the site in 1902. The course grew in stages, credited by the city to municipal architect Tom Bendelow, reaching 14 holes by 1914 and a full 18 by 1917. It is San Francisco's oldest municipal golf course and among the oldest public courses in California.
