William Land Golf Course
About William Land Golf Course
William Land Golf Course occupies part of William Land Park, a 160-acre site in Sacramento with a long history. The area's past reaches back to John Sutter, who sought high ground above the region's recurring floods and placed the settlement of Sutterville at what is now the park's southwest corner.
The park owes its existence to William Land, who in 1911 left $250,000 to buy public parkland near Sacramento intended as a recreation spot for children and a pleasure ground for the poor. The park was established at its current location in the 1920s, and the golf course followed in 1924.
